Otaku Paradise Nakano Broadway

Japanese Attraction

Hi, this is Yuyujin.
Today I would like to introduce Otaku Paradaise ,
Nakano Broadway/ 中野ブロードウェイ.

It is a subculture paradise!
Nakano Broadway is a building that gathers anime, idols and various deep worlds.
Nakano Broadway is about 5 minutes from Nakano Station North Exit through shopping street called Nakano Sun Mall.
Nakano Sun Mall is also interesting because there are various restaurants.
There are many sushi shops and ramen shops.
Ramen shop “Yousuke”is near Nakano Broadway and Sun Mall.

You will see Nakano Broadway as you go through Nakano Sun Mall.
Nakano Broadway is opened in 1966 (Showa 44).
It is a building where the commercial area and the residential area are combined.
Starting with Manga’s old bookstore “Mandarake”, which started in a small space in 1980, many shops with subculture features such as “Lashiban” have gathered.

Many subculture shops gather and not only Japanese otaku but also
otaku from all over the world gather here.

Mandarake has various kinds of shops not only old Manga shop.

There are also many anime character figures.
There are a lot of Ghibli stuff.
The figure in the picture below is a one-on-one piece like an animation piece, with the pose changing little by little,
It seems like a scene of animation when aligned.

It also sells original anime drawings and scenarios.

There is also a specialty store of cards.

There are also a number of shops for Lashiban.

Lashinban sells many anime figures.

There is a cosplay clothes shop.

There is a place where the old retro city corner is reproduced.
I do not know if it is a shop or an office.

Here is the office of a company.

It is said that the one removed from the Bubble wrap exhibition exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Kumamoto, by contemporary Japanese artist Takashi Murakami has been relocated to Nakano Broadway.
A lot of Western people gathered around.

In the basement there are also grocery stores and shops where you can eat.

There was also a shop selling yukata like the picture.
Foreigners will purchase souvenirs.

Access

Go straight from the shopping street from Nakano Station North Exit, and there is Nakano Broadway about 5 minutes on foot.
