Hi, this is Yuyujin.
This time I introduce “want’ in Japanese.
Let’s get started.
Basic patterns of “want” in Japanese are as follows.
A Wa B Ga Hoshii Desu(AはBがほしいです。)
A Wa B tai Desu(AはBたいです。)
A Wa B Ga Hoshii Desu(AはBがほしいです。)
A wants B.
In this pattern B is a noun.
For example,
Watashi Wa Pasokon Ga Hoshii Desu
(わたしはパソコンがほしいです。)
I want a personal computer.
Kare Wa Kuruma Ga Hoshii Desu
(かれはくるまがほしいです。)
He wants a car.
Watashi Wa Mizu Ga Hoshii Desu
(わたしはみずがほしいです。)
I want water.
Question form is like the following.
Anata Wa Mizu Ga Hoshii Desu Ka
(あなたはみずがほしいですか。)
Do you want water?
Answer is like this.
Hai Kudasai
(はい。ください。)
Yes, please give me it.
“Kudasai(ください)” means “give”.
Iie Irimasen
(いいえ。いりません。)
No, I don’t need.
More polite form is,
Iie Kekkou Desu
(いいえ。けっこうです。)
No, I am fine.
A Wa B tai Desu(AはBたいです。)
A wants to B.
Here B is a verb.
Watashi Wa Mizu Ga Nomitai Desu
(わたしはみずがのみたいです。)
I want to drink water.
Kodomo Wa Keki Ga Tabetai Desu
(こどもはケーキがたべたいです。)
Children want to eat cake.
Kanojyo Wa Eiga Ga Mitai Desu
(かのじょはえいががみたいです。)
She wants to watch a movie.
OK, that’s it.
Thank you so much.
Have a good trip!
