How about your stay in Japan?
Public transportation like train and bus in Japan are punctual and convenient.
If you can use them, you can go everywhere you want in Japan.
When I use public transportation in foreign countries, I am always worried about how to pay the fee.
If you plan to use public transportation in Japan, I recommend you to purchase IC card for transportation.
That is convenient for not only transportation and also dairy life in Japan.

You can purchase Suica and PASMO at every station.

You had better to purchase it at airport station.
The minimum fee of the IC card is 1000 yen.
The deposit fee is 500 yen.
And 500 yen is charged money for ticket.

And you can charge additionally when the remainder is decreased.
You can refund the deposit fee,500 yen, and the remainder minus 220yen.
If the remainder is less than 220yen, you can refund only the deposit fee, 500 yen.
You can use train and bus without purchasing the tickets at each time within the remainder.
There are flapper gates at a station entrance.
You touch the top of the gate with the IC card.
Your remainder is withdraw at the entrance gate and the exit gate.
If your remainder is small, the flapper gate is closed.
You need to charge the additional money to go through.
When you ride a bus, you touch the pad with your IC card at entering the bus.
You can use it at the store in the station like KIOSK and Bento (べんとう) stores.
And you can pay at convenience stores and drug stores by using these IC cards.
