Tourist Attractions in Japan / the State Guest House / Geihinkan げいひんかん

Japanese Attraction

Hi, this is Yuyujin.

Today I went Geihinkan(げいひんかん), the State Guest House at Tokyo with my son.

Geihinkan is an official accommodation of Japanese government.
Recently President Trump came here on 5th November last year.

The place was originally an Imperial Palace named “Akasakarikyu(あかさかりきゅう).
That is located at ten minutes walk distance from Yotsuya Station.
Yotsuya Station is one station from Shinjyuku Station.

The building was constructed between 1899 and 1909 as a residence for Crown Prince.
The period was about 40 years after Edo Period when Japan was closed from foreign countries and the time when Japan was getting power by modernization.
So Geihinkan is very westernized but has many Japanese designs and culture.
It is a very interesting and beautiful building.

This is a first visit for us.
We are very impressed.

Usually you need a reservation to enter the Geihinkan.
You can make a reservation here.

Today we can enter there without the reservation.
The fee is 1,000 yen , about 9 US dollars for an adult.

You can not take a picture inside the building but can take a picture outdoors.
